In the early morning hours of Thursday, March 5 the Pawling Fire Department and companies from the surrounding area were called to extinguish a fire at a residence in Holmes. PFD personnel responded to the call for a structure fire in a two-story home located at 610 Route 292.
Members of the PFD, along with assistance from the Patterson Fire Department used tankers to bring water from nearby Holmes Pond, and the quick action resulted in the fire being under control approximately 90 minutes after units were dispatched. The Pawling and Patterson Fire Departments also received assistance from the Beekman, Dover, East Fishkill, and Sherman, CT fire companies.
Although the structure sustained heavy fire, water, and smoke damage, no injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the blaze is currently under review by the Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division.
