After a successful inaugural event earlier this month, The Spark speaker series returns on Sunday, April 5 with a presentation from noted ecologist Tom Wessels.
Conceived by several Pawling residents, The Spark is a new lecture series aimed at providing thought-provoking presentations and promoting community conversation. Hosted at the Gardener Theater on the Trinity-Pawling campus, the first event in the series saw a lively presentation from adventure documentarian John Teaford. Mr. Teaford’s lecture drew more than 150 guests and was warmly received by those in attendance.
On April 5 at 1:00 p.m., ecologist Tom Wessels will return to Pawling for his first lecture in nearly eight years. Mr. Wessels is a terrestrial ecologist and Professor Emeritus at Antioch University New England, where he founded the masters program in Conservation Biology. He has conducted workshops on ecology and sustainability throughout the country for over three decades, and is author of numerous books including: Reading the Forested Landscape, The Granite Landscape, The Myth of Progress and Forest Forensics.
The afternoon with Tom Wessels begins on Sunday, April 5 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a Q&A session. At 2:30, Mr. Wessels will lead a nature walk with a smaller group, and registration is required.
