The community will gather for what has become a favorite local tradition when the “World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade” comes to the Village of Pawling on Saturday, February 22. The event manages to cram an enormous amount of fun and community spirit into a one block area, affirming the notion that good things do indeed come in small packages.
Although the namesake is not confirmed by any official entity, the “World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade,” can certainly claim the title in the surrounding area. Spanning only 223 feet, the parade route runs the length of Broad Street in the Village, beginning at the corner of Elm Street and ending at the intersection with Charles Colman Boulevard.
This year, the festivities will be led by Grand Marshal Sean O’Connor. The procession will feature participants from local community organizations as well as several area fire departments. As always, authentic bagpipe and drum music will accompany the procession. The parade will begin at noon, but attendants are encouraged to arrive early to ensure they secure a prime viewing spot on Broad Street.
The year’s “World’s Smallest St. Patrick’s Day Parade” is proudly sponsored by Durkin Propane, Fresh Builds, Freshcuts of Pawling, Pawling Family Quick Stop, Schmitt Excavating, Eastern Hay Corporation, The Sunshine School, Sunflour Bakery, Pawling Karate, O’Connor’s Public House, Smart Sheet Metal Workers Lu38, Gunz and Co.
