At the regular lunch meeting of the Pawling Rotary Club, Shawn Mealey was inducted as the newest member of the local chapter of this international service organization. Shawn is a Senior Developer for Phase2 Technology. His induction on Tuesday, January 14 at the Lathrop Center in Lakeside Park, was conducted by Rotary's Guest Speaker and past District Governor, Louis Turpin. Mr. Turpin spoke about the many ways that individual clubs in the 7210 district, which includes Pawling, raise money for good causes. He complimented the Pawling club for all that club members do for the Pawling community and beyond.
Mr. Turpin, who currently serves on the board of Shelterbox USA, and is the recipient of Rotary International's highest honor, the “Service Above Self Award,” is a long time member of the Rhinebeck Rotary club. He shared with Pawling club members that he was particularly impressed by the gifts and grants that the Pawling Rotary club disseminates to local and national organizations during their annual holiday luncheon in December. Throughout the past year, the Pawling Rotary Club has given more than twenty-one thousand dollars in scholarships, grants to local organizations that support Pawling's youngsters, and donations to international organizations that support children and their families.
