PHS Visits ArtEast

Pawling High School’s Art Club, accompanied by Mr. Ostyn and Mrs. Pinelli, toured Harlem Valley’s best local artist exhibitions on Saturday, October 19 for Dutchess County’s Annual 2019 ArtEast open studios. Starting right here in Pawling and stopping at various galleries down to Brewster and working their back to the Friends of the Great Swamp (FrOGS) event on Quaker Hill, students experienced an array of fine and media arts from sculpture to photography, from oil painting to jewelry making, while also discovering new art forms such as Yupo Paper and Natural Small Animal Dwelling construction for conservation. At each exhibit, students were greeted with incredible hospitality in the form of instruction, demonstration, Q&A, hot cider, and even a campfire with all the s’mores they could eat.

Instructors and students made immeasurable local connections with professional artists, right here in our backyard, that will serve PCSD greatly towards the career readiness of our art-minded students and the PHS Arts program for years to come as we continue to develop the Arts here in PCSD.
