The Best Kept Secret in Pawling

July 26, 2019

Here in the quiet town of Pawling lies a fly anglers mecca, The Anglers Den. Located at 11 West Main Street, the Anglers Den opened its doors in 2002, dedicated to providing the highest quality equipment, flies, materials, and advice for the angler.

Shorty after opening, The Anglers Den was fortunate to acquire English Angling Trappings from Jim Krul in 2003. English Angling Trappings started in 1984 as a mail order business providing fly makers across the country with high quality specialty materials. Since that time, Anglers Den has kept up with many of the new synthetic materials on the market.

The shop is known by its patrons as one of the best full service fly shops in the Hudson Valley. They carry a wide range of flies for both fresh and saltwater. While an authorized Orvis Dealer, The Anglers Den also carries Thomas & Thomas, Scott, and Mystic rods; Korker Boots, Fishpond, Hatch, lamson, Rio and Wulff products. There are also gift certificates available.

The shop offers fly tying seminars on Thursday nights, to which all are welcome. Guide service though their team headed by Frank DeGrazio covers both local waters, including popular Connecticut and Catskill rivers. For those anglers visiting our area and didn’t bring their outfits or anglers new to the sport and wish to try it out first, rental equipment from rod and reel to full outfits are available for one day, three days or seven days.

The Anglers Den also hosts a season opener and a season closer, plus in the spring the shop also offers an Orvis 101 class for newcomers by appointment. They also sponsor group fishing trips to such destinations as the Dream Catcher on the Delaware river, Salmon river for Steelhead and Chinooks, and Oak Orchard for Jurassic Browns and Steelhead.

The team at The Anglers Den is courteous and knowledgeable, and will always do the right thing for their customers, keeping with their motto: 100% guarantee of a good time. For more information, visit www.anglersden.net
