Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue, located on Cox Road in Pawling, is proud to announce The Hettinger Cup Polo Exhibition to be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Rain Date July 27) at Kirby Hill Farm, 664 Old Quaker Hill Road.
Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue is a non-profit organization committed to the rehabilitation, retraining, rehoming and retirement of Thoroughbreds no longer able to race.
The Hettinger Cup is named for Founder, John Hettinger, of Akindale Farm. Before John’s passing, he deeded over a portion of his beloved Akindale Farm to his rescue. He wanted the horses he loved so dearly to live out their lives on the farm he created for them, in the town he adored. Hettinger, an owner/trainer/breeder of Thoroughbreds guaranteed any horse that went thru his farm have the safety of sanctuary for life, Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue continues on his mission.
John’s legacy continues in Akindales’ Reinventing Racehorses program providing Thoroughbreds no longer able to race with rest, rehabilitation, retraining, rehoming and retirement with the comfort of knowing there is also lifetime care on the farm. Akindale is currently home to more than 150 Thoroughbreds.
The Hettinger Cup is a family friendly event that will include a Vendor Village, Food Trucks, Family activities, Pet Adoptions including dogs and kittens onsite, a Silent Auction area and other local Non-Profit groups delivering information of their cause, and of course an exciting Polo Exhibition including the ever enjoyable “stomping of the divots”.
All proceeds of the event will benefit the horses in the Reinventing Racehorses program at Akindale Thoroughbred Rescue.
