Pawling Supports Library Book Sale
The annual Book Sale raised $9,000 to support the Pawling Library.
The Pawling Library would like to thank our community for their outstanding support at our 2019 Annual Book Sale. This year’s sale took place at the Lathrop Center at Lakeside Park over the first two weekends in June.
The sale was a huge success, raising $9,000 to support the library. These much-needed funds go directly back to the library and are used to offset operating costs. “The Pawling Library relies on grants, donations, and fundraising to meet its full operating costs,” explained Brian Avery, Library Director. “The book sale is our biggest fundraiser, and we are so pleased that we were able to raise such an impressive amount of money.”
We wish to express our gratitude to everyone who donated books, everyone who purchased books, and especially to everyone who volunteered to assist with the sale itself. “This fundraiser could not happen without people giving their time to set up, tear down, and restock over the course of the sale,” explained Stephanie McLaughlin, President of the Pawling Library’s Board of Trustees. “The board would like to especially thank Deb Barnett for stepping up to chair the book sale this year. The addition of local food vendors and author signings made the sale more of a community event and we look forward to continuing to work with Deb to improve and grow the book sale experience.”
We are also grateful to the Town of Pawling for renting the Lathrop Center to us for the book sale; our fundraising efforts benefitted from having a prominent, indoor location available to us over two weekends. The library’s next book sale will be held December 6 through 8 in the Library Annex.
