Jacque’s Spin on Music - Live Music in the Lower Harlem Valley

June 28, 2019

Bring on the fun outdoor activities because summer 2019 has officially arrived! I can think of two PHS graduates in particular that will be enjoying live music at their summer events!

On June 13th, I interviewed PHS senior Pasquale Matera, who conducted a study for his 2019 Science Research Program project to understand why we love music.  During our conversation Pasquale explained his theory, testing method and results. The study scientifically proved that performing music makes one feel good, especially when done with friends.  Listen to the full interview at soundcloud.com/jacquebutterfly/show113.

Let’s put Pasquale’s results to the test at some of Pawling’s upcoming live music events.  Songwriter Mark Miller will serenade at the weekly Farmers Market on Saturday, June 29, followed by The Sawtelles on July 7.  The live music doesn’t stop at the market on July 6.  It resumes from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. in the village with an Independence Day Celebration that includes, BBQ, more live music, and fireworks!

Saturday, July 13, is Community Day at Lakeside Park, with hours of live music beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Blue Alien Mystic, Wading 9, Space Dogs, and at 6:00 p.m., the Fat City Rockers are going to take you into the night. Be sure to stream TheBeatoftheValley.com on Thursday, July 11 at 7:00 p.m. That night, Ed Bauchamp is coming in to talk about Pawling’s Music by the Lake and will be joined by the Fat City Rockers who will be performing in studio and keeping me on my toes!

Keep on enjoying the live music in Pawling Village. I don’t think I am going out on a limb stating that we don’t need a research study to know that listening to live music makes us feel good too, especially when enjoyed in the community and with friends!
