Saturday, June 8, was a perfectly sunny day for any outdoor event. CrossFit Pawling hosted their 3rd Annual “WODing for SuperTy” Event. In “CrossFit Lingo” WOD stands for Workout of the Day. All the funds from this event were donated to the Ty Louis Campbell Foundation.
The Ty Louis Campbell Foundation is a nonprofit organization that funds innovative research and clinical trials specifically geared toward the treatment of the most aggressive childhood cancers with a strong focus on brain tumors.
The day kicked off with an introduction from Louis Campbell who co-founded the foundation with his wife, Cindy. He shared why they started this foundation and how the proceeds are used toward funding research and what this research has done.
Next up was a workout open to not only members of CrossFit Pawling but the entire surrounding community. Throughout the day there were many local vendors including Happy Life Animal Rescue who were able to find homes for six of their adoptable puppies, Sunflour Bakery with their delicious treats, Reverie Coffee & Craft Beer selling their famous Cold Brew, No Matter What Apparel, Clean Face by Kelly, as well as a Bouncy House for kids from Partytime Rentals.
There was a raffle at the end of the day with donations from the following vendors: Clean Slate Essentials, Stan’s Auto Body, Iron & Wine Restaurant, Rosann’s Kitchen, Good Tidings Gift Shop, La Petite Salon, JarWorthy, Microsoft, Mallory’s Crafty Cottage, Mondiopup & North Winds Lavender Farm. Food for the day was donated by Wandering Dave’s Fork in the Road.
CrossFit Pawling was able to raise $2,901 to donate to the Ty Louis Campbell Foundation. This included a very generous donation from Ingersoll Auto of Pawling as well as The Lagrange Knights of Columbus #13378. Each year this event has grown bigger & better. CrossFit Pawling is hoping to follow suit next year.
