Live Music in the Lower Harlem Valley

“The Big Weekend” is here, commencing with the opening day of the Pawling Farmers Market from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15! Come out and enjoy Bob Stump’s country music bluegrass, squeeze the lemons, and munch on bread while sipping the roasted coffee or craft beer.

The inaugural Block Party event immediately follows from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Of course there is live music, and confirmed bands include Shot of Karma, Space Dog and Special Sauce. I recently had the pleasure of hearing Special Sauce at the Brewster Music Festival. This blues band was on fire and is fronted by an outstanding harp player, Paul Toscano. Good folks of Pawling, be forewarned and bring your dancing shoes. You’re in for a real treat when they take over the stage at 2:30 p.m.

Are you a Leonard Skynyrd Fan? Vyntyge Skynyrd will also be performing that night (6/15) at Daryl’s House Club. I recently interviewed piano/organist Tom Rossi who said the band delivers Skynyrd note-for-note and has received the stamp of approval from Artimus Pyle himself. If you still have it in you after the Block Party, their show starts at 8:00 p.m.

I’ve been staging the radio station for our new YouTube Channel while uploading video of shows such as Joan and Colin Roberts’ Pop Luck, Two Drink Minimum featuring Jeff Arnold and Mike Shustack’s Time Tunnel. Search YouTube for “Pawling Public Radio The Beat of the Valley,” and please subscribe to the channel. Anyone who enjoys music is welcome to stop by any Thursday night to observe the interviews and in-studio performances I host weekly from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. My door is always open. You’re welcome to pull up a chair and be part of the live studio audience! We’re located at 26 East Main Street in Pawling. I’d love to meet you!
