Farmers Market Returns June 15

One of the community’s favorite summertime traditions returns in two weeks when the Pawling Farmers Market opens on Saturday, June 15. This marks the 12th year of the market, and this season promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

Located on the Village Green, the Farmers Market features an eclectic array of fresh produce and locally sourced goods. This year will feature a number of popular returning vendors, as well as some fresh additions. Included in this season’s lineup are Chaseholm Farm Creamery, Coast to Coast Dog Treats, Dan Madura Farm, Dykeman Farm, Farm to Jar, Grape Hollow Farm, Happy Acres Farm, Harlem Valley Homestead, High 5 Pies, Justin’s Micro Greens, Lauren’s Farm, Meadowland Farm, Pawling Bread Company, Pickle Licious, Silver Cricket Farm, Trapani Orchard, Wave Hill Bread, Z Farms, and the new pairing of Dutchess Coffee & Sunflour Bakery. In addition, Broken Bow Brewery and Harvest Spirits will also be in attendance on select Saturdays.

The Pawling Farmers Market will also host a rotation of special artisans throughout the season. This year, visitors will have access to Amy Brenner Pottery, ArtEast Dutchess, Daffodil Press, Emergent Jewel, painter Jeanne Plekon, Lilymoore Farm, Lori Adams Photography, The Slab, and Vintage Terrarium. Several new artisans have also been added, with Living Decor Terrariums, Nubibinu Soaps, and Perry Hill Farm all joining this year’s rotation. Market favorite Nick the Knife will also be returning on several Saturdays during the season.

There will also be special events. On Opening Day on June 15, Two by Two Petting Zoo will, once again, be bringing their collection of critters, and The Oblong Land Conservancy will hold a milkweed plant giveaway on June 29. Children’s author Carol Paterno will hold a story telling event on July 13, and Lilymoore Farm will be bringing their alpacas to the market on August 24. Also planned for the summer are visits from the Pawling Resource Center, Friends of the Great Swamp, the Oblong Trail Association, and the Pawling Community Foundation, as well as a pottery demonstration by Drew Montgomery and a composting informational session with Maria Reade. For the kids, the Farmers Market will bring an art tent from Scribble, as well as a pop-up art tent led by Jessica Offerman on select Saturdays. As in previous years, the market will include a lineup of live music.

This year, due to popular demand, the Pawling Farmers Market will also be extending their season by two weeks, and will run until October 12. The market will be open every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

“What makes the Pawling Farmers Market so terrific – besides our wonderful vendors – is that it’s an easy-going, low-key social event,” explains Farmers Market President Betsy Montgomery. “Bring the kids and the dog, see your friends and neighbors, and enjoy the bounty that our local farmers and makers bring each week. It’s easy to shop, stroll, have a nosh, and start your Saturday off with a smile.” For more information and an updated list of events, visit online.
