The much anticipated library event is sure to surprise and delight everyone who attends.
Deb Barnett, chair of the 2019 Great Pawling Library Book Sale, shared: “When I was asked to chair this year’s Pawling Library Book Sale, I was excited to work with an amazing group of volunteers who were willing to expand the event from just selling books to creating an experience for all attending. I want to thank the library trustees for believing in my vision of growing the book sale into a festival, and this year is the first step in that direction.” Barnett spoke with local vendors who were excited to bring this vision to life.
The opening weekend of the book sale festival will feature Sunflour Bakery selling coffee, tea, and pastries to morning shoppers looking for a great read or perfect gift from 7:30 a.m. through 11:30 a.m., followed by Roseann’s Kitchen on June 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Stacy’s BBQ on June 2 during those same hours.
Additionally, throughout both weekends, talented local authors will offer readings and performances of their works, as well as book signings. Among those in attendance will be: Marian Grudko, Jennifer Morfea, Bernadette Shustak, Stephanie Rogers, as well as Carol Paterno and Doris Tomaselli.
Beginning on Monday, June 3, participating stores in town will hand out a Buy One Get One Book coupon to all customers who make a purchase from their stores. The book sale will run concurrently with the Car Show on Sunday, June 9, when Brown Bag deals on all books will be available up the road at Lathrop. Bag Sale Day is on Sunday, June 9, where visitors can buy a bag of all they can carry for $5.00.
As always, the library is looking for volunteers to help set up and tear down this event. Community service hours are available to all teen volunteers.
