The Pawling Concert Series will present the last concert of its 45th season on Friday, April 26, with Davina & the Vagabonds, a high-energy quintet comprised of piano, vocals, trumpet, trombone, drums, and bass, whose music suggests the charm of New Orleans and the swagger of Memphis. The concert, which is sponsored by Brook Farm Veterinary Center and Kayer, Garment + Davidson Architects, PC, will take place at 8:00 p.m. at Hubbard Court in Smith Field House on the campus of Trinity Pawling School (700 NY Route 22).
Since their start in 2005, Davina & the Vagabonds have grown from a down-and-dirty blues band into an acoustic ensemble influenced by such music luminaries as Fats Domino, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and Aretha Franklin. Davina herself, on piano and vocals, has been compared to Etta James, Janis Joplin, and Billie Holliday.
Tickets are available online at PawlingConcertSeries.org, at the Book Cove in Pawling Village, and at the door on the night of the concert. Adult tickets are $30; children 12 and under are admitted without charge. This concert will be presented in a relaxed coffee house-style setting with tables, snacks, and plenty of room for dancing, and will be catered by Sunflour Bakery of Pawling.
The 2018 – 2019 season of the Pawling Concert Series has been generously underwritten by Andron Construction, Castagna Realty, and Joseph Meunier & Sons.
