PRC and Hannaford Celebrate a Year of Generosity

Pawling Hannaford Acting Manager Sam Lundgren and Pawling Resource Center Executive Director Terry Ariano recently displayed a certificate acknowledging Hannaford’s generosity in donating 23,666 pounds of produce, meat, and other nutritious items to the Pawling Resource Center in 2018.

Hannaford of Pawling has proven to be extremely generous in supporting community organizations and local food pantries. Both organizations received acknowledgement from the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, which administers the Feeding America program, channeling excess and near-to-expiration perishable food items to organizations that can distribute these goods immediately to those in need.

In 2018, the Pawling Resource Center’s food pantry received more than 50,000 pounds of donated food from Hannaford, partnerships with the Brewster Community Food Pantry and the Putnam Community Action Partnership, and from many local organizations and individuals.

In the last year, the PRC food pantry had 1,889 visits, which benefitted 5,249 local individuals, giving them access to healthy and nutritious food. To learn more about the Pawling Resource Center, visit online.
