I’m thrilled to be writing this new monthly column for The Pawling Record and look forward to getting to know you. I began in the music business as a booker, which evolved into manager, promoter, marketer, and music blogger. As my experience expanded, I worked with national talent agencies. For this column, my focus is to highlight the live music scene in the Lower Harlem/Hudson Valley Region, specifically the Pawling community. It is this background, and my music passion, driving me to share this information with you each issue.
As I kick off my first column, isn’t it convenient that I happen to be celebrating 100 shows on WPWL with a Jamboree & Fundraiser on Wednesday, March 6, at Daryl’s House Club? What is exciting about this is we will be streaming LIVE on PawlingPublicRadio.org. Between sets, we’re running an auction of two authentic, autographed guitars from Willie Nelson and Charlie Daniels! The highest bidder will walk out the door with a piece of memorabilia from one of these music icons.
My music guests that evening will be Grammy winner Rebecca Haviland and Whiskey Heart and the Artie Tobia Band, whose fifth album reached #2 on the Americana Charts. Pawling’s non-profit radio station, WPWL, is the beneficiary of the evening. I sure hope to see you at Daryl’s House on March 6. Please come up and say hello! If you have a space for live music, please reach out for a possible feature in next month’s column at JacquesGiantShow@gmail.com.
