American Legion Renews Brick Campaign

Earlier this year, American Legion Hasler-Kamp Post #215 announced that it would once again be holding a brick fund-raising campaign to honor veterans. The new campaign arose as a result of an overwhelming social media response that the post received regarding veteran recognition. In addition to honoring servicemen and women, proceeds from the brick campaign will benefit Hasler-Kamp Post #215 and the many services that the post offers to the Pawling community.

Similar to last year’s highly successful brick campaign, bricks are available to military veterans or anyone wishing to honor one. The bricks will be displayed in Veteran’s Plaza and along the Village Green on Charles Colman Boulevard at a cost of $100 for the first brick, and $75 for each additional brick. This new campaign will represent the third time that Hasler-Kamp Post #215 has hosted the fundraiser, with previous campaigns running in 2012 and 2017.

“This plaza with all these memorial bricks honoring veterans from all the wars, from each of the services, from all walks of life, placed next to each other should serve as a reminder to all who visit the plaza that we were and still are one team of brothers,” says American Legion member Lou Musella. “We thank the community for their continued support and respect.”

American Legion Hasler-Kamp Post #215 has proudly served the Pawling community for almost 100 years and provides many services including an annual college scholarship, sponsorship of Cub Scout Pack 34, honorary decorations on the graves of local veterans, supplying American flags to area churches, and the presentation of Pawling’s annual Memorial Day Parade. Comprising nearly fifty members, the post operates on an annual budget of $8,000. The budget includes funds for the maintenance of Veteran’s Cemetery, ceremonial firearms, and annual donations to Wounded Warrior organizations, the USO, Boys and Girls State, and Castle Point.

The new brick campaign is currently accepting applications, and more than thirty new bricks have already been ordered. The post will be accepting applications through May 31. Anyone who wishes to purchase a brick may send an email of interest to for payment and placement details.
