Pawling Prepares for the Holidays
With the holidays just around the corner, Pawling is preparing for the season with several exciting events in December. Among these will be the annual Decemberfest Christmas Tree Lighting and the first ever Champagne Stroll Through the Village sponsored by the Pawling Merchants Committee and the Chamber of Commerce.
On Friday, December 7, all are invited to the Decemberfest Christmas Tree Lighting at 6:00 p.m. outside the Chamber of Commerce Building in the heart of Pawling Village. The event is a collaborative effort between the Village and Town of Pawling, as well as the Chamber of Commerce. Last year, the Decemberfest celebration drew more than 400 visitors, and organizers are expecting another big turnout.
“We have the chorus and the band from Pawling High School to help warm up the crowd with music and kick off the event,” explains Chamber of Commerce President Peter Cris. In addition to the entertainment provided by PHS musicians, peer leaders from the high school, volunteers from the United Methodist Church, and students from Trinity-Pawling will also be on hand serving food and spreading holiday cheer.
Decemberfest 2018 will include a new addition to the celebration, as Santa will arrive via horse drawn carriage. “Rock Hill Farm is excited to give Santa’s reindeer a break this year and deliver Santa to the tree lighting with Bill and Bob, a four-thousand-pound team of Belgian draft horses,” says Danny Blumberg of Rock Hill Farm. “We’re very excited about the event. We couldn’t think of any better way to celebrate our seventh anniversary in Pawling!” After delivering the guest of honor, the Rock Hill Farm carriage will offer rides down Charles Colman Blvd. “This is going to be an exciting new attraction,” adds Peter Cris.
The next evening, on December 8, the Pawling Merchants Committee and the Chamber of Commerce will present the inaugural Champagne Stroll Through the Village from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Guests and holiday shoppers are invited to stop by the Chamber of Commerce Building and receive a champagne flute and a map of local businesses. They may then spend the evening visiting local merchants who will be giving out complimentary champagne and offering an array of holiday promotions.
Businesses participating in the Champagne Stroll include Celestial Touch Reiki and Readings, Jane Haslam Photography, Annex Florist, The Blue Olive, The Yarn and Craft Box, The Book Cove, Pawling Antiques, North Winds Lavender Farm, McKinney & Doyle, Good Tidings Gift Shop, Family Quick Stop, Angel Aura Spiritual Boutique, Pawling Bread Co., Aneu, Vinny’s Deli, The Imperial Castle Toy Shop, and Meghan Avenue Salon.
