On Monday, May 28, the Town of Pawling will once again honor veterans with the annual Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony.
The Memorial Day Celebration is sponsored by American Legion Hasler-Kamp Post #215. The day’s activities will begin with parade participants gathering in front of Utter Brothers Feed Supply on Memorial Drive at 9:30 a.m. The procession will commence at 10:00 a.m.
The many local servicemen and women from all branches of the armed services marching will be joined by chapters of the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies, and the Pawling Volunteer Fire Department. Over one hundred participants are expected. In addition, the New York State Police Color Guard will be on hand. Music will be provided by the Pawling High School Band and Chorus. The year, the Master of Ceremonies will be Lou Musella, a U.S. Navy veteran and former Commander of Hasler-Kamp Post #215
The parade will proceed down Memorial Drive and arrive at Veteran’s Memorial Plaza on the Village Green. There, a ceremony of remembrance will be held for departed veterans. In front of the three monuments, members of the American Legion will read the names of the seventeen servicemen from Pawling for served in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.
