Tigers Celebrate Fall Sports Awards Night
On Tuesday, November 21, Pawling High School hosted the 2017 Varsity Fall Sports Awards Night. The program was presented by the Pawling Tiger Athletic Club, Varsity Club, and Athletic Department, and was hosted by Athletic Director John Bellucci. The evening event honored student athletes for their accomplishments this season, as well as recognized seniors who would be taking the playing field this year for the final time wearing Tiger orange.
Varsity Tennis, under coach James Agostinelli, presented the award for Most Valuable Underclassman to Julianne Pelegrino, with team captain Stephanie Sypher being voted Most Valuable Senior. In addition, Martha Topolnitski was also given All Section and All League honors.
Varsity Football presented the award for Most Valuable Underclassman to Brett Giannantonio, while Most Valuable Senior was awarded to Josten Gomez. The program was under the direction of head coach Jason Kuhlmann and assistant coaches Robert Rodriguez, Frank McKenna, Joe Giannantonio, Mike Bellucci, Tim King, and Taren Tanner.
The Varsity Field Hockey program, coached by June Lagan and assistant coach Colette Brenneman, received a multitude of honors. Ava Panzer and Courtney Adams were named by opposing coaches to the Section 1 All Elite Team, with Francesca Fleming receiving an honorable mention. Miss Panzer and Miss Adams were also both given All Section and All League honors this season. In addition, Francesca Fleming, Samantha Smith, Isabela Santiago, and Kayla Chavarri were also named All League, with Lauren McGreal, Carly McGrath, and Taylor Brenneman receiving honorable mentions.
Varsity volleyball had four players named to the All League team, with Laura Kuhlmann, Emma Martin, Emily Wall, and Annamarie Leske receiving honors. Laura Kulhman also received an All Conference Honorable Mention. Grace Heubel was named Most Valuable Underclassman, and Emma Martin was awarded Most Valuable Senior. The program was coached by Ashley Owens and assistant coaches Sara Corrow and Samantha Townsend.
The Varsity Cross Country team, coached by Lena Hickey, Jack Power, James Kelly, and Adam Muroski received numerous recognitions this season. Alex Petruso and Alex Badia both received All County and All League Honors, and Daniel DeGloria, Juliet Governale, Julianne Hickey, and Abigail Lewick also being named All League. Jonathan Pina also received an All League Honorable Mention. The team also named Alex Badia as the Most Valuable Senior.
The Varsity Boys’ Soccer team, coached by Travis Light and assistant coach Stephen Malone, awarded Matthew DiVitto Most Valuable Underclassman, and Tristan Zirofsky Most Valuable Senior.
Varsity Girls’ Soccer, under Head Coach Kerry Pinelli and assistant coaches Gillian Rinaldo and Caroline Quentin, named Morgan McCarthy Most Valuable Underclassman, and Kelly Koerner Most Valuable Senior. Miss. Koerner was also awarded All League honors and an All Section Honorable Mention. Morgan McCarthy and Grace Eichinger were also named to the All League Team, and Olivia Zoeller received an All League Honorable Mention.
