Friday, December 15, 2017 - 8:00 pm All Saints' Chapel, Trinity Pawling School Campus
In the gothic chapel at Trinity Pawling School, decorated with the scent of pine wreaths and the cheer of red poinsettias, Calmus will inspire us with the sounds of holiday music from the 15th century through today, including many familiar seasonal favorites.
Founded in 1999 in Germany, this five-member a cappellavocal quintet - soprano, counter-tenor, tenor, baritone and bass - embodies the rich choral tradition of its hometown of Leipzig, Germany, the city so closely associated with Bach and Mendelssohn. All members of Calmus are graduates of Leipzig's renowned St. Thomas Church Choir School. Their repertoire ranges from Renaissance and Baroque masters through great German romantic works, all the way to contemporary choral repertoire, as well as pop songs and jazz.
An active concert schedule worldwide has taken Calmus across Europe as well as to North, Central and South America. Recently, the group has performed at Lincoln Center Great Performers, Met Museum Presents, and The Cloisters.
The Pawling Concert Series is presented, in part, with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the NYS Legislature, and through funding from Dutchess Tourism, administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.
In addition, this series has been generously underwritten by: Andron Construction, Castagna Realty, Joseph Meunier & Sons, and Joe Pietryka Inc.
Tickets are available at the door, at the Book Cove in Pawling Village, and online at www.pawlingconcertseries.org. Adult tickets are $30; children 12 and under are admitted without charge.
