Constance “Connie” Blaney Dalzell, a longtime resident of Pawling, NY, died on November 15, 2017, at home. She was 94.
The only child of Louis and Mildred (Rouse) Blaney, she was born in Brewster, NY, on July 29, 1923. When she was five, her parents moved to the Milltown area of Brewster, and she attended Milltown Rural School and Brewster High School, graduating in 1941. Prior to her marriage, she was employed by NYSEG for 15 years, and then at Daniel P. Mossman for eight years.
On November 10, 1963, in the Pawling United Methodist Church, she married Chester Dalzell. Thereafter, she assisted Chet with secretarial and bookkeeping/billing duties at his printing business, the Dalzell Press. After a number of years, they sold the business, and Connie and Chet retired.
Connie is survived by Chet, her husband of 54 years, at home; son Craig Dalzell and his wife, Yvonne, of Pawling; stepdaughter Linda Dorrer of Pine Plains; stepson Clark Dalzell and his wife, Sandy, of Saratoga Springs; four stepgrandchildren; a stepgrandchild; several cousins; many friends, including special friend, Jessica Strang; and her beloved granddog, Snowball.
Besides having been a polio survivor at age eight, Connie was a gifted cook and homemaker, a top-notch bingo player, and a serious shopper. Her passing brings an end to her long struggle with COPD, and she is now at peace.
Calling hours were held on November 18 at the Horn & Thomes, Inc., Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling. A funeral service was held at the funeral home Sunday, November 19. Burial followed in Pawling Cemetery.
