Lauri Taylor, Village Trustee
Why are you running for this office?
I wanted to get involved with the community in order to give back in some way. I feel I have knowledge and experience that can assist the Village and the residents.
What are your qualifications for the position?
I have dedicated my entire professional career to assisting municipalities and landowners with environmental issues and funding opportunities. I have worked with all levels of government and am familiar with the challenges of trying to balance the needs of a community while meeting state and federal regulations and unfunded mandates.
What do you hope to accomplish, if elected?
I hope with my knowledge and experience I can assist the Village in obtaining funding for needed projects and help guide us through the state mandates.
What is your educational background?
I have a BA in Environmental Studies, 24 years as a Senior Environmental Planner and Manager of a Soil and Water Conservation District. I’m also a certified professional in erosion and sediment control and have been working on the unfunded mandate of MS4 Stormwater Regulations since they began in 2003.
What else would you like voters to know about you – your family, pastimes, special interests or activities?
I was born and raised in Dutchess County. After college, I lived in LaGrange for 18 years and then moved to the Village of Pawling nine years ago. I enjoy outdoor activities and travel.
