It’s time to see if that treasure you’ve been holding on to is as special as you think. The Historical Society of Quaker Hill and Pawling will host its Third Biennial Pawling Antiques Appraisal Event on Saturday, August 5, at the John Kane House, 126 East Main Street, from Noon to 4:00 p.m. Proceeds from this event will go toward revamping the John Kane House’s permanent exhibits on local history.
Ready to evaluate attendees’ treasures will be five experienced appraisers: Ken Kolski (American art and pottery, glassware, mid-century collectibles); Jane Lynn (porcelain, silver, decorative furnishings); Stephen Hughes (estate jewelry, diamonds, pocket watches, paintings, bronzes); Linda Kelly Fauci (porcelain, silver, decorative furnishings); and Fitch Lockwood (clocks and clock repair). For large items, attendees are encouraged to bring photographs taken from different angles.
Tickets are $10 per item (up to five items per session). Repeat sessions are allowed. Special offer: three appraisals for $25. Please note: The event is for verbal appraisals only; any buying and selling can be done privately. The fee includes a complimentary tour of the John Kane House and access to the Gift Shop. Light refreshments and our new “50-50 Raffle Tickets” (first drawing in September) can be purchased as well.
While not required, reserving an appointment time is encouraged and can be made through August 1 on the Historical Society website, or by contacting Anne Wagner (845-855-9261; firstname.lastname@example.org) or John Brockway (845-855-5395; email@example.com).
