Victory Cup Farm Bash Partners with Pawling Public Radio

June 29, 2017

Event Set for Saturday, July 15

The Victory Cup Farm Bash ~ The Best Party of the Summer® is returning to Putnam County. This year’s event will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017, with doors opening at 11:00 a.m. for VIPs. Pawling Public Radio/WPWL is honored to announce it will be a Charity Partner. The event will be held at a picturesque working farm located at 683 NY Route 311 in Patterson, NY.

“It is our pleasure to collaborate with The Victory Cup to facilitate some much-needed contributions toward the daily operating costs of running a public radio station,” says Bill Bonecutter, Chairman and Executive Director at Pawling Public Radio.

While the event is a private, for-profit event, The Victory Cup partners with local charities, affording them the opportunity to receive a percentage of all ticket sales tracked through a code given to those present. All attendees are encouraged to use the code “RADIO” when registering to support the non-profit public radio station.

PPR’s Board of Directors announced in March the station received notification from the Federal Communications Commission they were issuing WPWL/103.7 their Low Power FM Station License, which became effective in February. Under the direction of Chief Engineer and Board Trustee, Eugene Garnes, the station is in the process of erecting a new cell tower. “Upon completion, the station’s reach is anticipated to increase by an additional 40,000 listeners into Fairfield and the Lower Hudson Valley communities, Bonecutter said.  “Fundraising for the tower effort is on-going and community response has been positive for the project,” added Bonecutter.

The financial support, while very helpful, is not the only benefit of joining in the Victory Cup Farm Bash Event.  “PPR is celebrating their 10-year anniversary in operation and the station is deeply-rooted in the community. We are proud that the local population looks to our station as a source of news and information for Pawling, Patterson and surrounding communities. We thank the community for their support and all that they do to motivate our station, which is comprised predominantly of volunteers,” noted Mike Shustak, current Vice Chair and Board Trustee.
