Pawling Rotary to Honor Ross and Fayne Daniels

PHS Students Selected to Attend Youth Conference

This year, at the 6th annual golf outing scheduled for June 1 at the Quaker Hill Country Club, the Pawling Rotary Club will honor Pawling Rotarians of Distinction Ross and Fayne Daniels. Ross and Fayne are the embodiment of the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self,” and have worked tirelessly in support of Pawling Rotary and the Pawling community.

The day will begin at noon with lunch and proceed to a day on the links, culminating with a celebratory dinner at 6:00 p.m. Once again, Ingersoll Auto of Pawling, one of several local sponsors for this event, are generously donating a 2017 Cadillac ATS AWD Luxury Sedan, worth $43,000, as a hole-in-one prize on one of the country clubs more challenging holes.

Proceeds from this event will be used to fund the many programs that support educational initiatives for Pawling’s youngsters, including funding the Roger Smith/Pawling Rotary College Scholarship Fund, which provides support for five scholarships to the Rotary Youth Leadership Conference, support to The Scout Cabin, and Rotary International’s Student Exchange Program, which will bring an international student to Pawling, enhancing the experience of cultural exchange and diversity community-wide.

In other important news, The Pawling Rotary has selected Shannon Maynard and Zachary Castro, tenth grade students at Pawling High School, to receive full scholarships to attend Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) this year, which will take place on the Mount Saint Mary's’ College campus in Newburgh, New York from June 26 through June 30, 2017.

RYLA is a globally run leadership program coordinated by local Rotary Clubs. This opportunity offers these select young people an inspiring and diverse group of exceptional speakers and fun-filled workshop activities that build leadership skills. Students make lifelong friends as they engage in discussions that delve into the ethical and social issues that face young people today. Participants are encouraged to bring their enhanced leadership skills back to their schools and communities. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the college application process with former RYLA alumni, as well as the Mount Saint Mary’s Admission Director.
