Pawling Farmers Market Opens for 10th Season
The Pawling Farmers Market opens Saturday, June 17, for the 2017 season, with extended hours, more vendors and more special programs delivering the finest fresh produce, specialty foods, wines, and cheeses the Hudson Valley has to offer. The market, now in its tenth season, will be open Saturdays through September 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with more than 35 vendors. The market is located in the heart of the Village of Pawling on the newly renovated Village Green.
This year the market will offer a variety of produce, locally roasted coffee, farm-fresh eggs, prepared food products, fruit, poultry, and much more. Returning favorites include Meadowland Farm, Wave Hill Bread, Jacuterie (artisanal cured and fresh pork products), and Trapani Orchards. Once again, the market has a strong artisan program with hand-made cutting boards, jewelry, pottery, and photography.
The Two by Two traveling zoo will return this year to launch the season with a free-of-charge (donations appreciated) petting zoo for Farmers Market visitors. The zoo will feature a kangaroo, goats, tortoise, pot-bellied pig—even a bearded dragon. The petting zoo will return to the Farmers Market on a future Saturday for those who want another opportunity to see play with the animals. Nick the Knife Sharpener will be on hand once a month to make sure all your blades are as sharp as can be. Each Saturday, musicians offer live performances. Event times will be posted on the market website at www.pawlingfarmersmarket.org.
The Pawling Farmers Market continues the Hudson Valley’s long agricultural heritage, offering locally grown and produced fruits, vegetables, and other foods that support local growers and bring healthy food choices to visitors.
